Every support we supply is backed by calculation. Loads come from our pipe stress models; support selections — rigid hangers, spring hangers, guides, anchors, and slide plates — are engineered to those loads and detailed on fabrication drawings sealed by a licensed PE where required.
Fabrication and Supply
We fabricate custom pipe supports and secondary steel, and supply carbon steel, stainless, and alloy pipe with fittings, flanges, and valves to project specifications. Material test reports and full traceability come standard.

What is pipe support design and why does it require engineering?

When is a spring hanger required instead of a rigid pipe support?
A spring hanger is required when a pipe undergoes significant vertical thermal movement during operation and a rigid support would either lift off (losing support) or impose excessive loads on equipment nozzles. Spring hangers maintain a near-constant support load throughout the operating range. Grey Engineering sizes spring hangers using pipe stress analysis results, specifies variable or constant spring type based on the travel and load requirements, and verifies cold and hot settings in the field after installation.
