Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls Engineering
Full-service electrical, instrumentation, and controls (E&I/C) engineering for industrial facilities — power distribution, MCC design, PLC/DCS integration, control panel design, and field installation.

Power Distribution & Electrical Design
Grey Engineering Enterprises provides complete electrical engineering for industrial facilities: power distribution studies, single-line diagrams, switchgear and MCC (motor control center) design, load flow analysis, short-circuit studies, and arc flash hazard analysis. All electrical design is produced to NEC, NFPA 70E, and applicable IEEE standards, and sealed by a licensed Professional Engineer where required.
Instrumentation & Controls
Our I&C engineering covers the full instrument lifecycle: process data sheets, instrument index, loop diagrams, cause-and-effect matrices, control panel design, PLC and DCS programming and integration, and field loop calibration. We design control systems for steam plants, pressure vessels, chemical processes, and utility systems — from basic on/off control to advanced process control strategies.
Field Installation & Commissioning
As an EPC firm, we self-perform and manage electrical and I&C field installation: conduit and cable tray installation, wire pulling, terminations, control panel installation, loop checkout, and commissioning. Our field crews are experienced in operating plant environments and coordinate with plant electrical and operations personnel to execute work safely and on schedule.
Common questions about Electrical & I/C
What electrical engineering services does Grey Engineering provide for industrial plants?
Grey Engineering Enterprises provides power distribution design, single-line diagrams, switchgear and motor control center (MCC) design, load flow and short-circuit studies, arc flash hazard analysis, and PE-sealed electrical drawings for industrial facilities. We also provide instrumentation and controls engineering including instrument data sheets, loop diagrams, PLC/DCS integration, and control panel design.
What is an arc flash hazard analysis and why is it required?
An arc flash hazard analysis (per NFPA 70E and IEEE 1584) calculates the incident energy at electrical equipment to determine the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for workers. It is required by OSHA and NFPA 70E for industrial facilities with energized electrical equipment. Grey Engineering performs arc flash studies as part of electrical design packages and for existing facilities upgrading their safety programs.
Can Grey Engineering integrate new instrumentation with an existing DCS or PLC system?
Yes. Grey Engineering's I&C engineers design and execute instrumentation additions and modifications that integrate with existing DCS and PLC systems from major vendors. We produce loop drawings, instrument data sheets, and I/O lists, program the control logic, and perform loop checkout and commissioning — delivering a fully functional, documented control system upgrade.
